children’s CHAIRity project

kids helping kids through furniture

The Children’s CHAIRity Project is intended to engage youth under 18 years old in STEAM skill building as well as opening up an opportunity for empathetic conversation among their peers. DIG “challenges” groups that work with youth to design a child-sized chair that will be gifted to a child that shops with DIG with their family. DIG asks members of the community to sponsor each chair with a $150 cash donation that will go back towards DIG’s work in the community.

This project is being overseen by a lead volunteer, Kristin Kraus. For more information, please contact Kristin at kristin.kraus@hotmail.com.

FAQs

What is the Children’s CHAIRity Project by DIG?

The Children’s CHAIRity Project is intended to engage youth under 18 years old in STEAM skill building as well as opening up an opportunity for empathetic conversation among their peers. DIG “challenges” groups that work with youth to design a child-sized chair that will be gifted to a child that shops with DIG with their family. DIG asks members of the community to sponsor each chair with a $150 cash donation that will go back towards DIG’s work in the community.

What is my organization / youth participants responsible for?

By signing up for this project, partner organizations agree to work with their youth participants to plan and implement the design that the group decides on for their assigned chair. DIG asks the partner organization to organize work sessions directly with their youth and other adult supervisors. The partner organization is expected to gather all materials needed for their group’s design; however, DIG may be able to help with certain materials upon request and availability.

Will DIG provide the chair?

Yes, DIG will drop off the chair of your choice at a day/time arranged by a DIG representative and your organization. Partner organizations will have the ability to choose the chair that they will design on a first come, first serve basis.

What do we do when the chair is complete?

We ask all partner organizations to notify their assigned DIG representative when their chair is complete. From there, we will arrange a pick up or drop off time to get it to DIG’s location in Milton.

When is the chair due?

Your chair is due no later than June 21 to be displayed at DIG’s Fresh StART VIP and general events.
