HELP US TURN HOUSES INTO HOMES
DIG is a community built on dignity, abundance, commitment, humility, empathy, and fun. We believe everyone who walks through our doors - clients, donors, volunteers, staff, and neighbors - deserves to feel welcomed, valued, and respected.
Our volunteers bring that culture to life. They show up with a positive, helpful attitude, jump in where we’re needed, stay flexible when plans change, and work together to get things done. There’s plenty of hard work here, but also plenty of laughter, connection, and purpose.
At DIG, every role matters,
every person can contribute,
and there’s always room to help.
Our “every day roles” are the positions that we rely on to keep us moving every week. Each role below includes hands-on training with a dedicated, experience Lead Volunteer so that you feel confident jumping in on your own when you’re ready.
Showroom Assistants* help keep DIG clean, organized, and client-ready by cleaning and processing donations, assembling household kits, stocking supplies, and keeping our showroom in order. It’s a hands-on role that’s perfect for volunteers who like to stay busy and see the immediate impact of their work.
Personal Shoppers create a welcoming, dignified shopping experience for DIG clients during private appointments. You’ll walk alongside clients as they choose furnishings for their homes, help pack household items, and make sure their selections are organized and ready for delivery or pick-up. Perfect for friendly, empathetic volunteers who enjoy connecting with others!
Repair Specialists* give donated items a little TLC to get them into “dignity condition” and ready for their next home. Projects can include upholstery, sanding, painting, staining, sewing, and simple electrical repairs. All skill levels are welcome - just bring a willingness to learn, problem-solve, and make something useful again!
Receptionists are stationed at DIG’s front desk to welcome clients, volunteers, donors, and visitors and help keep our day organized. You’ll manage sign-ins, answer calls and texts, monitor our general email inbox, keep public areas tidy, and pitch in on a variety of administrative tasks. Perfect for friendly, organized volunteers who enjoy helping people and keeping things on track!
Client Triage Specialists are experienced volunteers who work closely with our Client & Volunteer Coordinator to help families move through DIG’s referral process. You’ll confirm and process new referrals, communicate directly with clients, schedule appointments, and help make sure each household knows what to expect. This specialized role is perfect for compassionate, dependable volunteers who are great communicators and comfortable navigating sensitive situations with empathy and dignity.
*We kindly ask all new volunteers to begin as a Showroom Assistant or Repair Specialist and complete 2–3 shifts before training in additional roles. This gives you a chance to get familiar with our space, mission, and how we work while setting you up for a great volunteer experience!
