bringing baby home

a safe start begins at home

At DIG, we believe that every family deserves a safe, stable, and dignified place to call home. While our core services provide essential furniture and household items to families in crisis, a critical gap remains: safe, appropriate furnishings for infants and toddlers.

Bringing Baby Home is a new program thoughtfully designed to support expectant parents and families with children ages 0–5 as they transition into stable housing.

By providing new, safety-compliant baby and early childhood items, the program ensures that children can grow and thrive in safe home environments from the very beginning.

The Need

Families with young children often face impossible choices, balancing rent, food, healthcare, and basic household needs. For those with infants and toddlers, the challenge is even greater.

Unlike most household furniture, cribs and other baby items cannot be safely accepted secondhand due to strict safety regulations and frequent recalls. These essential items must be purchased new, placing them out of reach for many families at the exact moment they are needed most.

At the same time, public assistance programs do not cover these costs, leaving families without safe sleep options, proper feeding equipment, or childproofed environments during a critical stage of development.

the solution

With startup funds and guidance from WellSpan Health, DIG was able to launch a program based off of our existing Good Night’s Sleep Fund to cover the gap for families within this specific demographic in 2026.
